I’m sharing with you the correspondence I sent to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners. It focuses on the ongoing shortage of deputy sheriffs at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the contributing factors I’ve identified behind this crisis. This shortfall not only jeopardizes public safety but also affects morale and weakens our community’s ability to respond to and prevent crime. Additionally, there appear to be significant administrative and compliance issues within OCSO that may have hampered the Board’s ability to fully assess staffing needs and allocate appropriate funding in the 2024 budget cycle.
